Congratulations Steve!

Steve Christensen advanced to PhD candidacy this Fall after defending his thesis topic, "Chemical Termination Effects on Pt/SrTiO3", on November 21, 2005.

Congratulations to our recent graduates!

Dr. Anthony Escuadro and Dr. Duane Goodner each earned his PhD in Materials Science & Engineering this summer. Anthony defended his thesis, "X-Ray Standing Wave Imaging of Metal Atoms on Semiconductor and Oxide Surfaces", on July 11, 2005. Duane defended his thesis, "Atomic-Scale Surface Studies of Alkaline-Earth Metals on Si(001)", on August 31, 2005.

Dr. Yongseong Choi earned his PhD in Material Science & Engineering this past spring. Yong Choi defended his thesis, "Element-specific Magnetism Studies on Patterned Magnetic Structures and Magnetic Films", on May 2, 2005.

Recent Conferences

Dr. Chang-Yong Kim presented the paper "Imaging of Atoms on Oxide Surfaces by X-ray Standing Wave Fourier Inversion" at the AVS 52nd International Symposium in October. Steve Christensen presented "Controlled nanoscale morphology on the α-Fe2O3 (0001) surface" at the 230th ACS National Meeting in August.
